We are delighted to be assisting main contractor Walter Lilly with extensive air permeability consulting and testing services for the London Institute of Medical Sciences Building (LMS).
The LMS is a new £55m, nine storey 12,000 m² biomedical research facility. The new building aims to bring together the institute’s researchers in a single, world leading scientific research facility. The LMS has been based at the Hammersmith Hospital campus in West London since its creation in 1994.
In 2017 the Medical Research Council and Imperial College London announced a joint project to build a new home for the MRC LMS on the former Cyclotron site.
The brief for the new building was to create approximately 12,000 m2 of advanced research facilities in an environment which will provide a new home for LMS and promote collaboration between all building users. The design principles of the building promote a clear division between clean, clinical laboratory spaces and more relaxed office spaces. A central atrium extends vertically throughout the building with breakout spaces at every level, encouraging social interaction between the different research groups.
BE have carried out 19 room integrity tests, smoke shaft testing and air permeability testing of the entire building envelope.
