BE has recently seen completion of the new, replacement Royal Mail distribution office in Sheffield for main contractor Wates.
Royal Mail has operated a delivery office on Barnsley Road since the 1930s but the current building was in a state of deterioration. An application was submitted by Royal Mail, supported by WSP, to Sheffield City Council in December 2020 for the replacement of its North East Sheffield site. The project included the demolition of the existing delivery office and construction of a larger 11,000 sq ft building.
The scheme also includes 32 parking spaces, as well as an operational yard and ancillary works.
