The Home Quality Mark is a new scheme from BRE, taking up the reigns from the Code for Sustainable Homes assessment.
Since Code was abolished some clients, especially local authorities have lacked a rating system which they can apply to new build homes in the UK.
BRE have now provided that much needed assessment route which demonstrates building performance and quality.
HQM – A New Scheme
BE were one of the first to report on the unveiling of the Home Quality Mark at Ecobuild 2015. We were also among the first to become qualified HQM Assessors and we have been working on HQM schemes using the BRE’s beta version.
Since then we’ve been keeping tabs on announcements from the government about their ‘new technical standards’, and on the content of the Home Quality Mark, both of which are replace the outgoing Code for Sustainable Homes.
The scheme uses a five star rating to rank construction quality, comfort and wellbeing and running costs. It is designed to work in the new framework, and with the new national technical standards on water, access, space and security.
