Construction has completed on a new 75,000 sq ft factory for global robotics company CMR Surgical (CMR). The Cambridge company develop and manufacture a Versius® Surgical Robotic System that is helping to revolutionise surgery around the world.
Our client, design and build specialist Clegg Food Projects were appointed as principal contractor by Grovemere Property Limited. The CMR Surgical factory in Ely, Cambridgeshire will enable upscaled manufacturing processes to meet the increasing global demand for Versius, which is currently used in hospitals across UK, Europe, India, Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, and the Middle East.
Build Energy were appointed to deliver BREEAM assessment and consultancy, ensuring the scheme met it’s Very Good target sustainability rating, as well as delivering on completion thermographic surveys and air permeability testing. The project which incorporates sustainable features such as rainwater harvesting and PV arrays will create more than 200 jobs in the coming years near the company’s Cambridge base.
