InstaVolt has officially opened the UK’s largest and most advanced ultra-rapid EV charging Superhub in Winchester — and Build Energy is proud to have supported Trojan Group in bringing this landmark project to life.
The site features 44 ultra-rapid chargers delivering up to 160kW each, designed to serve a wide range of vehicles – from cars and vans to towing setups. With inclusive features like drive-through bays, extra-long van spaces, and accessible charging points, the Superhub sets a new standard for public EV infrastructure.
This flagship project is InstaVolt’s first to integrate on-site renewable energy generation and battery storage. The 870-panel solar farm and 4MWh battery system help power the chargers sustainably, reduce grid reliance, and support InstaVolt’s mission to lower charging costs and boost EV accessibility.
Driver comfort was central to the site’s design. Amenities include a dedicated Starbucks café, 24/7 toilets, a children’s play area, dog walking space, and vehicle maintenance facilities – all underpinned by robust security and low-impact LED lighting.

Build Energy supported the project from early design through to completion. We provided consultancy and assessment to help meet Part L energy requirements during the design phase and delivered on-site airtightness testing to ensure compliance and performance at project handover.
